ATTENTION STUDENTS! This is your one stop spot for all information you need to know about the 2016 Annual Conference! We want you to join us for three days of fun, education, networking, and the experience of a lifetime! View the conference flyer here.

Here is a guide that should answer your questions about this conference and why you should attend:

Q: Where and When is the 2016 Annual conference?
A: The 2016 Annual Conference will be Wed-Thurs, May 4-5, 2016 in Everett, WA at the Xfinity Arena. The 2016 Student Pre-Conference will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016, 11:00am-3:00pm in Shoreline, WA at the Shoreline City Hall.

Q: How much does it cost and what do I get out of it?
A: Students can register for only $59!!! This includes: the student pre-conference, attendance at BOTH days of conference, lunch all three days, and a one-year membership to WRPA!

Q: That is so cheap! What is the catch?
A: In turn for subsidizing the student rate, all students will be asked to volunteer. This will include: helping at registration desks, collecting tickets to the awards banquet, being room hosts, and a few other random jobs. Nothing too difficult and it will not take away from you attending the conference.

Q: What is the Student Pre-Conference?
A: This is a day dedicated to you. Professionals from the Student Connection Committee are planning a day of fun and education. Activities will include: volunteer training, professional development, leadership skills, mock interviews, resume reviews, mini job fair, plus fun and games! This day will tell you how to break into the field, allow you to network with current professionals and other students, and maybe even land a summer job/internship! Trust us, you will not want to miss this!

Q: What am I supposed to do from 3:00pm on Tuesday until the start of the conference Wednesday morning?
A: Join other professionals for an epic paintball battle. Then join professionals at the Tuesday evening social from 5:00-8:00pm at Lombardi’s on the Everett waterfront. Yet another networking opportunity.

Q: What is the conference all about/why should I attend?
A: This is the largest gathering of parks and recreation professionals in the state. You will get to network, make connections, attend educational sessions, and have fun. Educational sessions cover a variety of topics including: park planning, trending programs, risk management, leadership/professional development, and many other topics. A list of programs can be found here.

Q: Sounds pretty awesome, but I am not from Everett. Where do I stay?
A: There are two hotel options that WRPA have provided at a discounted rate. Grab some classmates and split the cost. Hotels are located close to the Xfinity Arena and a short 20 minute drive to Shoreline City Hall (student per-conference location). Visit our Hotel Accommodations page to book a hotel at the discounted rate.

Q: Ok, I am in! Where do I register?
A: Follow these steps to register!

Q: I have a few other questions, who do I ask?
A: You can email any of the SCC members listed on the conference flyer. Or you can contact the SCC Chair, Kevin Witte, at [email protected] or 425-640-3105.
