Addressing Ableism Through Inclusive Playground DesignPresented by PlayworldJoin us for a virtual CEU Accreditation CourseAfter decades of design shortcomings, playgrounds that account for the presence and diversity of childhood disabilities are on the rise. This course explores how to create inclusive play spaces for children with disabilities and their families through an understanding of the challenges they face from design ableism. Various disability theories will be considered, and an exploration of best practices—community engagement, accessible parking and pathways, play component selection, signage, playground programming, and surroundings—will provide a roadmap for creating more inclusive and joyful play environments.
