Risk Management for Volunteer ProgramsWCIA Risk Services Staff - Carlene Brown, Tanya Crites, Drew Brien and Kim Dennis, Sr. Risk Management Reps | Room 1Volunteer programs are hugely beneficial to organizations when set up with risk management in mind. From identifying risk exposures and control best practices, this session includes risk management tools for a successful program. Presenters will explore the benefits of volunteer policies, procedures, documentation, background checks, transferring risk and coordinating with outside organizations. Learning objectives: 1) To identify the risk exposures and controls associated with volunteer programs and activities for parks professionals.2) To recognize applicable risk management steps that help prevent or mitigate loss within the entity’s volunteer programs and activities. 3) To provide risk management tools to utilize focusing on implementation of volunteer best practices.
