
Leading your Team: A Guide for the New Coordinator/Young Leader

Session Description: As a young professional, it can be overwhelming to have the responsibility of leading a team. Whether at the Specialist, Coordinator or Supervisor level, you are being asked to lead a group of people to achieve a common purpose which can be challenging due to a variety of dynamics. This session will equip the student/young professional with tools and strategies to build a cohesive team through enthusiasm, vision and trust through a panel style discussion. Young Professionals: Carissa Ware, Debbie Yaranon, C.J. Stanford, Jay Sandstrom and Conor Wigert will help facilitate the session discussion.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will better understand the challenges that young leaders face when leading teams in the field of recreation.
- Participants will gain skills and strategies to be better prepared for the leadership responsibilities associated with coordinator level positions.
- Young professionals expand their network of professionals that they can reach out to for mentoring in the future.
