Leading your Team: A Guide for the New Coordinator/Young Leader 

Thursday, April 23 | 1:00pm - 2:15pm 

Session Description: As a young professional, it can be overwhelming to have the responsibility of leading a team. Whether at the Specialist, Coordinator or Supervisor level, you are being asked to lead a group of people to achieve a common purpose which can be challenging due to a variety of dynamics. This session will equip the student/young professional with tools and strategies to build a cohesive team through enthusiasm, vision and trust through a panel style discussion. Young Professionals: Carissa Ware, Debbie Yaranon, C.J. Stanford, Jay Sandstrom and Conor Wigert will help facilitate the session discussion.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will better understand the challenges that young leaders face when leading teams in the field of recreation.
  2. Participants will gain skills and strategies to be better prepared for the leadership responsibilities associated with coordinator level positions.
  3. Young professionals expand their network of professionals that they can reach out to for mentoring in the future.
