Equity in Registration

Session Description: Are your registration policies, procedures, and practices introducing barriers to participation? Are your advertising materials effectively reaching your target audience?  Learn how several agencies in the state are addressing equity in the registration process, and what you can do to ensure that all of your residents have access to your programs and services.  This will be a panel discussion.  

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about some of the most common barriers to access and participation.
  2. Learn how several agencies in the state are eliminating barriers, and how that has impacted participation.
  3. Identify steps that you can take to eliminate barriers in your own organization.

Speakers: Colin Walker, Angie Ramirez, Maryke Burgess, and Jen Thomas

About the Speakers: Colin Walker has been responsible for marketing parks and recreation programs and services for Bellevue Parks & Community Services for over ten years.  In his current position as department marketing administrator, he is responsible for development and implementation of the department’s marketing and communications plan.  He has studied marketing in the context of municipal recreation since 2000, and continually seeks opportunities to improve customer access to information. Colin has a Bachelor of Science from Central Washington University, and a Master of Public Administration from Seattle University.
