Interviewing 101 

Thursday, April 11 | 9:00am - 10:15am 

Session Description:

This session will address interviewing skills for career positions within our profession from Specialist to Supervisor. Session components will include the application process, preparation techniques, sample interview questions, a discussion regarding components of successful answers, examples of poor answers, and a mock interview session.

About the Speakers:

NeSha is a Parks and Recreation Manager with Pierce County and oversees the operations of the West Zone of Pierce County's park system. She has 18 years of experience in the field and has worked for several municipalities in Washington and California. She holds a bachelor's in athletic administration from Pepperdine University and a master's degree in sport management from the University of San Francisco. She is also a Professional Advisory Committee member of Western Washington University's recreation degree program and a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.

C.J. began his career with the City of Issaquah after graduating from Eastern Washington University in 2007. During 10 years with that city, he was involved in almost every aspect of the department. Currently, C.J. is a recreation supervisor with the City of Mercer Island and oversees all youth, adult, and senior programming. C.J. earned a bachelor's degree in recreation management and a master’s degree from Gonzaga University.

Grant graduated from East Carolina University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and parks management. He began his career as a recreation intern with Mercer Island Parks and Recreation and has been promoted twice. He is currently a recreation coordinator with their department where he coordinates youth and adult programming.

Kelly is the recreation director for the City of Cheney Parks and Recreation. Having worked in recreation and parks for more than 11 years she brings varied experience in a multitude of areas and perspective from municipal settings as well as Air Force bases. She is a Certified Youth Sports Administrator and has programmed youth and adult sports leagues for more than seven years.  She holds a bachelor’s and master’s in recreation from Indiana University.

Debbie graduated from Western Washington University earning her bachelor's degree in Recreation Management in 2011. Debbie has worked for the cities of Federal Way, Bellingham, and Fife and is currently a Recreation Coordinator for Pierce County Parks and Recreation. She has experience coordinating programs and events for youth, seniors, and families.
