Date: Wednesday, May 3Speaker: Session Description: Since The Americans with Disabilities Act became law in 1991 parks departments have been working to establish inclusive recreation with varying levels of success. Diagnosis rates are growing and the needs for program support are climbing. Raising a child with a disability can be three times as expensive, serving a child with disabilities does not need to be. Establishing a sound inclusion process can seem difficult if you don't have the training or experience. If proactive measures are put in place for programs and staff, stress and cost can be significantly reduced. |
