After a review of traditional evaluation tools for youth programming, Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District decided to go through a Consensus Based Evaluation to engage parents, staff, and stakeholders, to build a movement to improve youth programming in Seaside, Oregon.  From the process we were able to increase grant funding, provide more effective programming, identify better facilities, and build employee engagement.  Utilizing lecture, group participation, and self evaluation, we will explore the Consensus Based evaluation process, and how you can effectively conduct an evaluation in your community.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to gain an understanding of Consensus Based Evaluations.
  • Participants will build a tool box for youth programming evaluations.
  • Participants will be able to develop a strategy for implementing a Consensus Based Evaluation.

Speaker Bio: Justin Cutler, Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District

Justin D. Cutler is the General Manager for the Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District and Past-President for ORPA.  Cutler has been leading organizations toward more customer centered delivery models since he started in parks & recreation over 11 years ago.  Cutler has a passion for youth development, staff engagement, leadership, and change management.  He enjoys our profession because he gets to build community, create experiences, and change the world.
