Are you looking at programming or rental software changes in the future? Attend this session to hear from those that are currently in the process to find out how they selected a software vendor.  Selection methods that will be discussed include requests for proposals, small works rosters and subscriptions. Learn about the strengths and weaknesses of each method, as well as what software companies have been chosen and things to expect in the transition process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn what needs to be done to make a decision on software.
  • Participants will learn what other cities know about the process.
  • Participants will learn how new software is going if some cities have already made the switch.

Speaker Bio: Julie Ryan, City of Fife

Julie Ryan is the Recreation Division Manager for the City of Fife, where she has worked for the last 6 years.  She has worked in the recreation field for over 20 years.  She organized the Software Symposium’s for WRPA and has been actively involved in researching a new software vendor for the City of Fife.

 

Speaker Bio: Angela Ferguson, City of Bellevue

Angela Ferguson is the Administrative Services Manager at the City of Bellevue, where she has worked for the last 21 years.  She oversees the technology initiatives, accounts receivables, and the hiring of temporary staff for the Parks & Community Services Department. She is currently working on the replacement of their Registration and Scheduling system and the Probation system.  For 7+ years, Angela has been the lead for the MyParksAndRecreation.com business team – a regional technology partnership in the eGov Alliance, where the MPR website displayed and allowed citizens access to courses from 8 neighboring cities.  Angela is an avid bargain shopper who spends most of her time and money on her 10 grandchildren.

 

Speaker Bio: Ryan Spencer, City of Redmond Parks and Recreation Department

Ryan Spencer is the Business Administration for the City of Redmond Parks and Recreation Department.  He has been a WRPA member since 1998, and a long time member of both the Washington Education Association and the LERN organization.  He has 25 years of experience with facility and front desk operations and 16 years as a CLASS System Administrator experience. He created the RFP and is serving as lead for Redmond’s software replacement project; currently in final phases of to select a vendor.  Selection will likely occur prior to the conference date.
