Setting the Stage for Successful Capital Bond Passage Track: Business Administration
Friday, May 1st | 1:15 - 2:30pm Speaker: Roxanne Miles, Metro Parks Tacoma Room: 318
Description: Do you dare double your ask to the voters? Metro Parks Tacoma passed an $84M capital bond in 2005, an operating levy in 2010 and a $198M capital bond in 2014. Successful bond measures are built on three key premises: having a positive relationship with the community, building trust through responsible spending of tax funds, and identifying community-driven projects citizens want to see happen. Metro Parks Tacoma will present strategies used to meet these requirements three times in the last decade.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will understand the three key premises on which a successful ballot it built.
- Participants will learn strategies to position the agency for a successful measure.
- Participants will be able to define required actions for any agency considering a ballot measure.
