Overview of the Program

Washington Recreation and Park Association (WRPA) members have an opportunity to earn the Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) designation during a special live webinar being presented by the National Alliance for Youth Sports.

The three-hour webinar will take place on Tuesday, September 14, from 9 AM to noon Pacific Time and enable participants to join more than 5,700 youth sports professionals that have earned the CYSA designation.

“Obtaining my CYSA has provided me with valuable tools and resources that I am able to implement into both recreation-based and competitive-based programs that my department offers,” said Meredith Smith, Recreation Supervisor at Pierce County Parks in Washington, and a Certified Youth Sports Administrator. “Another huge benefit has been the ability to network with other CYSAs, not only on the national level but worldwide as well.”

The Academy for Youth Sports Administrators is a unique educational and networking program created and offered by NAYS that raises the professionalism of those delivering youth sport services. The Academy provides a strong foundation of knowledge on a variety of issues pertaining to overseeing youth sports programs in today’s ever-changing environment. Among the topics covered are conflict resolution, insurance and risk management, child abuse and bullying prevention, volunteer management, emergency preparedness, and injury prevention, and much more.

After the three-hour bonus webinar that allows CYSA candidates to experience the live session to prepare and network with others, attendees will be provided access to the Online Academy to complete the certification process.
