WRPA 2018 Fall Leadership Summit

"Making the Economic Case (Part 2): Using existing resources"

Date/Time: Tuesday, October 9 | 2:45 AM - 4:15 PM

Speaker: Jessica Sargent | The Trust for Public Land

Description: In this follow up session to “Making the Economic Case: translating park benefits into dollars and cents,” participants will work through the process of actually translating economic research into positive park outcomes. In this session which is part case study, part working group, the all-important questions “who is your audience?” and “what do you want them to do?” will be broken down as it applies to the research process. This will culminate in participants having the opportunity to trouble shoot challenges and opportunities specific to your agency as well as work through exercises on crafting economic messages to diverse audience types.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn from case studies how to translate economic data into effective presentations.
  • Participants will be able to direct their economic research process by identifying their specific audience and desired outcome.
  • Participants will leave with at least three economic messages that can be utilized in their agency’s financial strategies and funding requests.
