Description: This workshop is designed for managers and supervisors who have experience in their positions and who have attended the basic Leadership and Supervision Workshop. The course provides participants the opportunity to work through more complex problems in managing and supervising employees.

TOPICS:

  • Handling conflict - Unresolved conflicts are among the most common issues in organizations. This module teaches managers how to resolve conflicts in a positive manner
  • Decision Making - The decisions that managers and supervisors make can lead to success or create unnecessary risk for the organization. This module covers the decision making process as well as decision styles
  • Building Effective Teams - Simply having employees show up is not enough to ensure success. This section provides guidance for mangers to understand how to build a cohesive work team.
  • Interviewing skills - Eventually most managers have an opportunity to interview potential applicants for positions in their organization. This module teaches the skill of effective interviewing

TERMINAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session the participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and resolve conflict in a positive manner
  • Be able to interview candidates and select the best fit
  • Understand the decision making process and learn to make better decisions
  • Build a team of committed employees

Speaker Bio: Connie Poulsen

After enjoying a 25 year career at Xerox Corporation, Connie became a professional speaker, trainer and consultant specializing in management and supervisory training. She is an instructor at both Peninsula College and Olympic College. Connie holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration, along with multiple certificates.
